Take Tec 40 further with the Trimix add-on. Available alongside your standard Tec 40 training, this option lets you dive using a helium-enriched gas blend instead of straight nitrox — reducing narcosis and keeping your head clearer at depth, right from your first tec course.

Allowable Gas Mix

The Tec 40 Trimix add-on uses a light, normoxic trimix blend — a minimum of 21% oxygen with up to 20% helium. This keeps the gas safely breathable at the surface while meaningfully cutting narcosis within your Tec 40 depth limit of 40 metres/130 feet. Exact mix requirements are confirmed with your instructor at the time of training, in line with current PADI standards.

Course Structure

Delivered as an add-on alongside your Tec 40 training: some self-study, a focused knowledge development session, a practical application session, and two open water dives using trimix — all within your existing Tec 40 depth limit.

Why add Trimix now?

Starting with light trimix from Tec 40 builds the habit of thinking in terms of gas mix and equivalent narcotic depth early in your tec diving career, rather than bolting it on later. It’s also a natural stepping stone if you’re already planning to continue to Tec 45 Trimix and beyond.
